Our client an established and growing Managed Service Provider business that has been catering to small and medium enterprises mainly in Sydney for over 35 years. The team is expanding in Melbourne.

About the role
Stepping into the role of Project Engineer, you will be the driving force that bridges the gap between initial technical architecture and successful client handover. You will be actively responsible for deploying, configuring, and migrating complex IT environments (heavily focused on the Microsoft stack, Azure, and modern networking). Working closely with senior technical staff, you will ensure that customized solutions are executed flawlessly, on time, and to the highest technical standards.

Must haves for the role:
- Proven, hands-on project delivery experience, ideally within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or IT consulting environment.
- Strong technical execution skills across Microsoft 365, Azure, and Windows Server migrations.
- Exceptional time-management and stakeholder communication skills.
Role and Responsibilities:
The role will require you to scope and deliver project and uplift the standardization and efficiencies in project delivery.
- Take ownership of technical delivery outcomes of projects (large or small)
· Execute end-to-end IT infrastructure deployments, from technical staging and client implementation through to post-migration support.
· Perform seamless cloud migrations, focusing on transitioning on-premise client environments into Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
· Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot networking hardware (switches, routers, firewalls) and virtualisation platforms (VMware / Hyper-V).
· Collaborate closely with Solutions Architects and Senior Project Engineers to translate high-level scoping designs into functional technical realities.
· Create, update, and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including "as-built" diagrams and detailed technical handovers for the BAU Service Desk team.
· Engage directly with clients throughout the deployment lifecycle, providing clear technical updates, managing expectations, and ensuring successful system adoption.
Experience and Skills Requirements:
- Execute end-to-end IT infrastructure deployments, from technical staging and client implementation through to post-migration support.
- Perform seamless cloud migrations, focusing on transitioning on-premise client environments into Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
- Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot networking hardware (switches, routers, firewalls) and virtualisation platforms (VMware / Hyper-V).
- Create, update, and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including "as-built" diagrams and detailed technical handovers for the BAU Service Desk team.
- Engage directly with clients throughout the deployment lifecycle, providing clear technical updates, managing expectations, and ensuring successful system adoption.
- Experience taking escalations from service desk and mentoring service desk
- Service ticketing systems experience (preferably Autotask)
- Remote monitoring & management systems experience (preferably N-Able)
- Documentation systems experience (preferably ITGlue, Sharepoint)
- Project delivery experience across:
- Microsoft Public Cloud environments (Azure, Modern Workplace/M365, VD)
- Infrastructure virtualisation technologies (HYPERV & Vmware)
- Infrastructure hardware (servers, storage, UPS)
- Microsoft Server operating systems (including AD, DHCP, DNS, RAS, RDSH, GPOs)
- Microsoft Office suite
- End user devices (desktops, laptops, thin clients)
- Networking experience (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN connection troubleshooting, DNS, firewalls, NAT rules)
