About the role
As the Online Managed Services Technician, you will be the remote technical
engine of our client's support operations. Your primary focus will be
diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues across
Linux environments, virtualisation platforms, and network infrastructure. You
will take ownership of client issues, interact professionally with
stakeholders, and ensure highly critical communication systems remain operational
and optimised.
Must haves:
Solid
hands-on background in Linux and Proxmox (Virtualisation).
Excellent,
professional client communication skills.
Role and Responsibilities
Take
ownership of support tickets via Zendesk, effectively managing and
prioritising your open workflow.
Provide
remote diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting for Linux and Proxmox
environments.
Configure,
maintain, and troubleshoot networking infrastructure, including switches,
VLANs, IP addressing, routing, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls.
Maintain
and update virtualised environments to ensure peak performance and
stability.
Provide
dedicated remote support for proprietary nurse call systems (full training
will be provided).
Perform
configuration updates for subscribed clients and maintain highly accurate
work and resolution records.
Collaborate
closely with internal engineers and technicians, providing valuable field
feedback to improve products.
Participate
in a rotating after-hours and weekend on-call roster.
Demonstrate
initiative by proactively questioning ineffective practices and taking on
wider tasks to support team goals.
Experience / Skills / Qualifications
A
University Degree in Information Technology, a relevant Trade
Certification, or a strong equivalent technical background.
Atleast 5+
years of experience in a remote support, managed services (MSP), or
technical diagnostics role.
Strong,
proven working knowledge of Linux and Proxmox operating/virtual
environments.
Solid
understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing,
DNS, DHCP, and firewalls.
Demonstrated
ability to troubleshoot complex issues within virtualised and networked
environments.
Exceptional
client-facing communication skills with a clear, professional telephone
manner.
Familiarity
with Zendesk or similar ITSM/ticketing platforms.
Ability
to work autonomously, prioritise tasks efficiently, and maintain a
proactive approach to health and safety.
